Birthday Daisies

Some birthdays snuck up on me over the weekend, so I needed to make some great cards asap.  That was entirely doable and really fun, thanks to Upsy Daisy!  For this card, I used the Color Coach to locate a great combination of Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo and Baja Breeze.  This is going in the mail to a real teal lover, so I'm sure she'll appreciate the touches of Indigo...and I know I'll be using this combo again!

The card was very simple, just a little cutting, stamping and punching, then I was done.  The Whisper White piece is 2-1/4x3-1/3, and I cut the Island Indigo to give a 1/4" frame all around.  I used the Modern Label Punch for my sentiment, then framed that with a Designer Label Punch.  That's all folks!

Cheers!

Mod Birthday

I'm late posting today, so I'll cut right to the chase.  Today's Bingo piece is the gingerbread man.  Good luck!

This is another of the birthday cards that I designed over the weekend.  Poppy Parade forms the base of this card, and I stamped the daisy silhouette in Poppy Parade as well for a nice tone-on-tone look.  This is a one stamp set card, since the sentiment is also from Upsy Daisy, and I used a color combination from the Color Coach--Poppy Parade, Sahara Sand, and Night of Navy.  To make the sentiment really stand out, and give this card its mod finish, I used the Modern Label, Designer Label and Decorative Label punches.

Cheers!

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

Sometimes life is just crazy...like right now.  Everything seems to be going at top speed, and I can barely keep up, let alone get ahead!  But stamping is my relaxation, so I'm just going to leave all that stuff behind...except that this card should have gone into the mail last week.  Oops!

I actually made this card last Monday night, for the ColorQ challenge #51, which provided the great line-up of Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Peach Parfait, So Saffron, and Whisper White.  I really like these colors, which are so fresh and fall-like, and the inspiration cards were great!  I sat down with images of leaves in my head...and ended up with daisies.  This wasn't at all what I was planning, but I really like it.

Obviously I'm still pleased that I traded for Upsy Daisy--I inked that up in Poppy Parade to get started.  I'm also still working on incorporating more ribbon, which is where my peach "stripe" came from...though it's actually Pumpkin Pie.  Could you tell?  I wasn't sure how to incorporate the So Saffron, until I realized that Designer Label punch would fit around that "Happy Birthday" sentiment, which is stamped in Old Olive.

I love all the white space on this card, and hope to make more cards that use so much white.  The finishing touch for this card is the half pearls, which I spaced out along the ribbon.  I wanted just a little extra something, and these really hit the spot!  I used the medium and small size, and just eyeballed their placement (so don't look too closely!).  Now it's time for this to go in the mail, finally--which leads me to my TIP: When you use hard embellishments like brads, buttons, rhinestones or these pearls, you should include an extra sheet of paper in the envelope to cover and protect the embellishments in the mail.  Otherwise the postal machines could tear them off, and that is no fun.

Cheers!

And Now in Paper...

You might have seen this coming...I took the plunge, and got Upsy Daisy after having such fun with it in My Digital Studio last week.  Luckily for me, as a demonstrator I have access to a demo-only website where people trade stamp sets that need more love.  I was able to trade one of my neglected sets for Upsy Daisy, so it was waiting for me when I got back home.

This is my recreation of the first card from last week, which features new color Cajun Craze on a base of Pumpkin Pie.  I really like it in person--just perfect for a fall birthday!  I'm sure I have plenty of those coming up...

Cheers!
